Title: Fieldmark, 2012 (no longer on site)

Artist: Gareth Lichty   Exhibition year: 2012

Gareth Lichty is a visual artist working with large scale sculptural environments. Fieldmark is a new work commissioned by The Tree Museum and continues with Lichty's tradition of weaving brightly coloured plastic into large sculptures. Using a loom constructed by the artist, fluorescent surveyor tape will be woven into large grids and installed on the property. The finished works will mark to identify carefully considered points-of-interest for the viewer.

Gareth Lichty studied Fine Arts at York University in Toronto and Sculpture at Leeds University in England. He has exhibited internationally and nationally with exhibitions in Europe, New Zealand and Canada. Lichty has been a Director of the Board of directors for CAFKA (Contemporary Art Forum, Kitchener and Area) since 2005 and Board chair from 2009 to 2012. He has received grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council and the Waterloo Region Arts Fund. Lichty has upcoming installations at the Tree Museum, Muskoka and the Cambridge Sculpture Garden for 2012. Lichty lives and works in Kitchener, Ontario.
The artist would like to thank the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council.
