The Tree Museum is located on a 200-acre woodland lot that combines the pleasure of a walk in the woods with the surprise of contemporary site-specific sculpture. The installations are permanent, and the site is open year round. Nature, an integral part of the installations, presents a constantly changing situation.
This is a self-directed tour with signs and information to help you enjoy the experience. Please wear hiking boots/runners - this is a walk in the woods, with rock climbing. It is 2.2 kilometers from Doe Lake Rd to the centre of the site, and about 1kilometer to the first sculpture. You park your car in the field as you turn in of Doe Lake Road. LOCATION MAP
Please walk in, do not drive.
Then take a walk along a rutted verdant path, check out the many varieties of moss, in the spring the flowering dogwoods, and glorious wild flowers. After about a kilometer, you see a beaver dam and around the corner a treat awaits you, the first of the Tree Museum's collection of contemporary sculpture. Allow your self the time to enjoy the walk and discover the art. The Tree Museum, the only sculpture park in a rural setting in Ontario and one of the few in Canada, is open year round and free. There are clear paths and signage.
Sunday September 11, 2011 noon to 5pm. is our annual opening reception, and all are welcome.
